It's been some time
I know it's been some time... Actually years. But since the beginning of the week I've been working more on a redesigned version of the game. There have been some major game design decisions I've made.
Starting with the inventory, which was way too big and thinking about games like Halo, you don't need to carry around that many weapons.
I'm also switching to a more boomer shooter kind of style. And I played around with some new editors. Crocodile3D for the level creation. Even though the level needs some polishing in blender afterwards. And Union Bytes Painter, to do the texturing. I highly recommend that workflow if you go for a style like that. And I am moving away from the standard assets like the skeleton.
Since the retro style I'm going for is more dirty and easier to create I can get things to run way faster. Like an own character as seen below.
Also I did some block out with a texture set from Tomb Raider 2, which will only be used as reference and later disappear replaced by own creations.
Also jumping worked horribly before since the function was placed under fixed update. Won't do that again, even though jumping is still a little wonky. What else... Yeah I did a redesign for the level and will start from scratch:
The game feels a little more playable and I really want to bring out a playable prototype. But first some footage in the near future. Not in year. I promise!
